 "בית הבד של הגולן" היא חווה חקלאית שעיקר עיסוקה זיתים. בבעלות החווה מפעל לשמן זית ומרכז מבקרים, "בית הבד של הגולן" הממוקם בקצרין בירת הגולן.

במרכז המבקרים של "בית הבד של הגולן" תוכלו לסייר ולהתרשם ממערך המכונות העובדות ומפיקות את שמן הזית (בעונה), לקבל הסבר מפורט על כל מכונה ופעולתה מרגע כניסת הזיתים ועד ליציאת שמן זית כתית מעולה ולהנות מטעימות ממבחר שמני הזית.

ניתן לצפות במעבדת החברה אשר מפקחת על איכות השמן ובמקביל מפתחת את הסדרה הקוסמטית "ניחוח הזית" לטיפוח אישי, סידרה ייחודית וטבעית ללא חומרים סינתטיים וללא חומרים משמרים. במרכז המבקרים מוקרן סרטון המספר על תהליך הפקת שמן הזית תוך קריצה לעבר ההיסטוריה של הגולן - כמעצמת שמן זית מימי קדם.
ברחבת מרכז המבקרים מוצבים דגמים עתיקים של בתי בד, חלקם אף אותנטיים, דרכם ניתן ללמוד על תהליך עצירת שמן זית בעת העתיקה. בחנות בית הבד אפשר לרכוש משמן הזית של המקום, ממוצרי סדרת הטיפוח ועוד מוצרים הקשורים בזית. 



בית הבד של הגולן תומך במספר מן העקרונות של התיירות האקולוגית. בית הבד של הגולן יוצר השפעה מינימלית על הסביבה. לדוגמה: בייצור שמן הזית נעשה שימוש רק בשומן של הזית שהוא רק כ-20 אחוז מתכולתו של הזית, בנוסף בזית גם 40 אחוז מי זית ו40 אחוז בשר הזית שמזהמים את הסביבה, כתגובה לכך החליטו מנהלי בית הבד למצוא שימוש לשאריות הזית (מי הזית ובשר הזית), ומצא הנהלת בית הבד התחילה לייצר סבון נוזלי גרגירי, דשן, מי זית מיוחדים לניקיון הבית ועוד מוצרים רבים אחרים. בית הבד מעסיק עובדים רבים ומעניק מקום עבודה נוסף לתושבי קצרין. במשק בית הבד מגדלים זיתים שגידולם אינו דורש השקיה, אינו דורש חומרי הדברה, מדובר בעץ שעמיד למאות שנים וניתן לעשות שימוש בעץ עצמו לאור דורות. בית הבד משתלב בנוף הטבעי של האזור אינו מצריך שימוש בכלים מכניים אינו גורם לצריכת דלק אינו מצריך שימוש בחומרים כימיים להדברה אינו מחייב נטיעה ועקירה חוזרים מדי כמה שנים לאור העמידות הרבה עצי זית במשך מאות רבות של שנים!

THE GOLAN MAGIC

the model in the golan magic visitors' center tells about the history of the surrounding area: of the  Jewish settling in ancient times, of the rebellion against the Romans, on the return to the Galillee and the Golan after the six days' war, of the defence of the Golan during the Yom Kippur war, and of the Golan today: of what it provides to Israel, it's people and so forth.


the Golan magic is not under ecotourism but in the label of conventional tourism and legacy tourism. we still decided to put it in our trip because it presents the history of the Golan in a short but a detailed way which saves a lot of time. we think that the place is in weak sustainability, because it does not consider the environment a lot and does not lessen the negative effects on it and is not located in nature. on the other hand, it does educate the tourists ant teaches them about the history of the Golan in addition to giving a workplace, develops the tourism in Israel   and is located in a trade center, so it doesn't take additional territory from the environment.

THE GOLAN OLIVE PRESS
the Golan olive press  is a farm that grows mainly olives. there are an olive press and a visitors' center in the farm and it is located in Qazrin, the main city of the Golan. in it's visitors' center you can be impressed by the machinery complex that produce the oil (in season), to get a detailed explanation about every single machine and it's action from the entry of the olives to the production of extra virgin olive oil and enjoy tasting the oils. you can watch the work of the cosmetics lab which produces the  personal care series "the smell of the olive", a unique series of completely natural material and without any synthetic additions. there is also a short movie about the history of the Golan as an olive empire from the ancient times. in the visitor's center are several models of olive presses, some are even authentical, trough which the history of oil-making could be learned. in the shop you can buy the press products, including the cosmetics series.

the Golan olive press supports several of the principles of ecotourism: it creates minimal effect on the environment by using only olive fat, which is only 20 per cent of it's content, in the oil making. the directory of the press found a use for the other 80 per cent of the olive by making liquid soap, fertilizer, olive water for house-cleaning and more. the press employs many workers and gives an additional workplace for the residents of qazrin. in the press fields grow olive trees that do not require irrigation and fertilizers. they are very stable trees, and can be used for many generations. the press combines itself with the natural view and does not require a use of mechanic tools and fuel and does not require replanting of trees, for they live for centuries.

the site suits at least two kinds of tourism: ecotourism and agricultural tourism. we think the site is in medium (between weak and strong) sustainability because it supports half of the principles and works feverishly to lessen the pollution of the environment which shows that the site does care a lot for the environment. this site is a site of sustainable tourism because  they use the money given by the tourists to develop the fields so that they can be used in the future and also develop the press itself and produce rising amounts of oil from one year to the next.
